It's days after the apocalypse. 32 years.
For some odd reason they stopped counting months and years, same way of counting time is in the Mad Max comic books.
On a side note, 32 years after the apocalypse would line up with Mel Gibson's age if he played Max (Max would be in his 50's).
Okay thanks. For some reason i still think max is younger than the apocalypse or slightly older as the fall. He seems just fine with it as he grew up with it but knowing the fact that I'm 14 and am heavily reliant on technology as it's now an everyday thing I would fall to shambles if the power never returned. Even my dad who is 52 right now would also fall apart had the power shut off in 1982 or 1983 as it would've fallen apart. So max either knows what to do, or he's lived like this for most of his life
Well, Mad Max (1979) was set before the apocalypse and he's about 23 in that so we can assume that he lived like us for that time. I think he's just well equipped with his skills in fighting, surviving and driving from his years as a police officer. Also there didn't appear to be much technology from before the fall so maybe he didn't lose much in that regard.
