Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga[]
Although Theron wanted to star as Furiosa in the prequel film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, this was ultimately not to be. The large gap between the production of Fury Road and Furiosa meant that Theron aged considerably in that time, but the film is intended to convey a younger version of the character in the events leading up to Fury Road. Miller had considered using de-aging technology, but ultimately decided against it after seeing it in other films and deciding it had not yet reached the necessary level to be sufficiently believable. Anya Taylor-Joy was instead cast in the role, with Alyla Browne portraying the character as a child. There was ultimately no bad blood between Taylor-Joy and Theron, who sat down together to discuss the film.[1] The final film however notably includes scenes from Fury Road which included scenes featuring Theron's performance, among others.
