Chris Hemsworth (born August 11, 1983) portrayed Dementus in George Miller's 2024 film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.
Biography[]
Chris Hemsworth is an actor of film and television, as well as a film producer. He is known for his roles in films such as Star Trek and Men in Black International and since 2011 has been known for his role as the superhero Thor in the films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As a television actor, he had a regular role as Kim Hyde in the series Home and Away and has twice hosted Saturday Night Live, as well as hosting his own series Limitless with Chris Hemsworth.
Regarding his role in Furiosa, Hemsworth stated that he embraced the departure from his heroic role as Thor to a villainous role like Dementus. He quipped that "I was about to say it was nice not to wear a cape, but...I did have a cape in this film. And it's red – or it becomes red eventually, as well. The absurdity of that." He also stated that he did not feel the confidence that he would normally have, not having a handle on the character going in, but that it forced him to dig deeper and thus was ultimately a good thing.[1]

Trivia[]
- Chris Hemsworth's father, Craig Hemsworth, was almost cast in the first Mad Max film as one of the biker antagonists.[2] And his wife, Elsa Pataky, actually played two, separate roles in Furiosa.
- Creator and director George Miller knew of Hemsworth's work, but did not originally have him in mind for the character as written. Hemsworth, however, was interested in appearing in a Mad Max film, so a meeting was arranged for them to talk and Miller was struck by how considered Hemsworth was and felt Hemsworth being in the role made sense the more he came to know about him.[3]
