Hugh Keays-Byrne (born May 18, 1947 in Kashmir, India - deceased December 2, 2020 in Gosford, New South Wales, Australia) was an Australian actor who portrayed Toecutter in George Miller's 1979 film Mad Max and Immortan Joe in Mad Max: Fury Road.
Biography[]
Keays-Byrne was born into a British family in what was then colonial India and was forced to move to Britain after India gained independence and was then partitioned. He began his career as a popular and in-demand Shakespearean actor, so he took part in the Mad Max film franchise as an experienced professional actor.

- Keays-Byrne is one of several actors in the Mad Max series to play two separate and distinct characters, having played Toecutter and Immortan Joe.
