Humungus was an official toy produced by N2 Toys released in 2000.

Description[]

Mad Max's main antagonist in "The Road Warrior" was an over-sized goon explicitly designed to elicit connotations of Conan The Barbarian since Lord Humungus -- a.k.a. "The Humungus" -- led a a tribe of devolved, modern-day Barbarians in the post-apocalyptic Wasteland.

In 2000, Lord Humungus was immortalized in plastic for the action figure line.

The Cardback[]

Many collectors choose to keep their collectibles "MIP" or "Mint In Package." In this case it would be "MOC" or "Mint On Card."

The cardbacks, as they are known, usually feature cool and interesting artwork, along with other items in the line, which helps sell the product. Fittingly, the cardbacks for this line featured a Mad Max production still.

Several points of interest for these particular cardbacks include a warning; N2 Toys included disclaimers on the front of the card. The one for this figure was different from "Mad Max 1" as it simply read "Ages FIVE and older."

Another interesting factoid is that the UPC Barcode on the back of the card designated the "title" of the set. The official nomenclature of this figure, according to the cardback's Proof Of Purchase barcode, was simply "Humungus." However, this was not done for Series 2.

Lastly, the Series 1 cardbacks featured a little blurb that set the tone for the line:

From the action figure cardback:

Max, the heroic loner who drives the roads of outback Australia in an unending search for gasoline. Arrayed against him and the other scraggly defenders of a fuel-depot encampment are the bizarre warriors commanded by the Humungus, notorious for never taking prisoners when they can pulverize them instead.

The Action Figure[]

2000 N2 TRW - HUMUNGUS - LOOSE B

The Humungus' action figure was packaged without his mask on, which is highly unusual since the character was never revealed without his mask in the film. In fact, based on his wispy strands of hair and somewhat lumpy head, the viewer is led to believe Humungus was somewhat disfigured. However, the action figure, which is non-canon of course, features only mild scars without any type of grotesque dis-figuration.

Accessories[]

The Humungus came with an array of accessories based on the film -- his Smith & Wesson 44 caliber, his hockey mask, and that weird, but deadly, three-bladed, harpoon-like melee.
