Mad Max: The Wasteland is a working title for a possible upcoming entry in the Mad Max franchise. It is intended as a direct sequel to Mad Max: Fury Road and was originally to follow the film, however, it was, ultimately, followed by the prequel film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.
As of 2024, it is uncertain when or even if Mad Max: The Wasteland will release.[1] Following the release of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, it was reported that Mad Max: The Wasteland is "merely just a title" and that the film is not in active development. It was also increasingly unclear whether Warner Bros. would consider production on further films in the franchise following the disappointing box office for Furiosa.[2] George Miller stated that he's waiting for Furiosa's reception before taking further steps in production.
