May Swaisey was the owner of a farm that the Rockatansky family visited in 1979's Mad Max. She was portrayed by Sheila Florance.
Biography[]
May Swaisey was good friends with Max Rockatansky and his wife Jessie Rockatansky. May was a farmer who owned many acres of land, which she maintained with the help of her farmhand (who may have been her son or relative), named Benno.
In the movie, she welcomes Max and his wife when they want to hide from the Toecutter's Gang who is stalking them.
However, a short while later, Jessie and her son are further stalked at a nearby beach by the Toecutter's Gang. They flee and come to take refuge near a barn. May intervenes and tries to save Jessie by threatening the gang with her rifle and locks them in the barn.
Jessie, May, and Sprog flee in the Rockatanskys panel van, but it breaks down. May made a noble attempt to stop the oncoming gang, but, of course, she wasn't enough and the bikers run down Jessie and Sprog despite May's best efforts to protect them.
It is unknown what happened to May, Benno or the farm after the events of Mad Max.
