The Underdune is a location in Mad Max 2015 video game. It is located in the northeast part of the map.
Overview[]
Traversing the dunes is an ill-advised strategy. Use of the two half buried highways allow quick travel to this area.
Layout[]
The Underdune is the remains of a massive almost completely buried pre-Fall international airport. The ruined air traffic control tower can be see along the highways. On the outside the airport has partly exposed concourses and crashed passenger planes. The interior is a massive complex of stores and restaurants. The Buzzards has claimed this airport as a stronghold. It has become a place survivor wish to scavenge but none have ever returned. Its become a treasure trove due the presence of what was left behind after the Fall. Massive piles of abandoned luggage bags litter the airport, while the garages hold numerous cars.
Many entrances in and around the airport are blocked with either sand dunes or makeshift barricades. The first section of the airport is the main terminal. The floor has caved in forming a ramp underground. This leads to baggage claim, care is advised when first traveling through here as the Buzzards have set up contact traps along the way. Once passed baggage claim the massive interior of the airport can be driven on. Christmas wreathes are seen hung on support beams throughout the airport. This can prove that the world ended during winter before or possibly during Christmas. The airport also contains either 1 or 2 car garages as one can be found outside and inside the airport.
Involvement[]
Max (in order to enter the death race), was tasked with retrieving light bulbs for Gastowns Outcrier, as the light strand he's wearing has several dead bulbs. He shows Max a spot where he could find some, a place called The Underdune. Traveling to the location, he finds that is a ruined airport. Navigating the hazards the airport holds, Max finds the light bulbs in a ruined Christmas themed store. Once he gets the light bulb he is attacked by Buzzards. Soon he starts getting overwhelmed and is forced to escape the airport. He returns to the Outcrier who is shocked to see he survived. Outcrier immediately puts Max in the race.
